SFP+ & QSFP Cables
SFP+ (small form factor pluggable) and QSFP (quad small form factor pluggable) cabling are used to connect a switch or any other network device to a copper or fibre optic cable. QSFP supports higher bandwidths than SFP_ cabling, so check what your needs are before buying. This type of networking cabling is most often used in offices and commercial environments where the levels of network traffic is immense. You’d very rarely need SFP+ or QSFP at home. Select the cabling you need, and check out with easy pay options, including AfterPay and Zip. We can dispatch your purchases within 2-4 business days.
SFP+ & QSFP Cables are fibre cables used for enterprise-level data communications, the cables are an adopted format by many network vendors and can be found in enterprise networks.
SFP stands for Small Form-factor Pluggable.
QSFP stands for Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable. These possess additional lanes subsequently achieving higher speeds (theoretically up to 100 Gbit/s) than regular SFP (approx 10 Gbit/s).
We stock a range of lengths up to 20M with fibre converters/transceivers.
It is almost never necessary to use SFP cables in a home network environment, as CAT6 is far easier and cheaper to deploy. Of course, SFP cables must be paired with the right network switch to operate at full speeds.
SFP is favoured in industry applications, as it has lower & consistent latency (data response time) and uses less power. For these reasons, the cabling is favoured in large geographical LANs.
