SAS Cables

Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) cables are a serial connection, usually used between storage devices and the motherboard of a computer.

SAS mechanical drives(usually 10,000 or 15,000 rpm) are faster and more reliable than mechanical SATA drives (usually 7,200 rpm) (not to be confused with SSD SATA) and are used predominantly in enterprise applications. Examples of this would be security recordings or enterprise storage.

As a rule of thumb, SAS storage is more expensive an has a lower storage maximum over its consumer-grade counterparts.

Be certain to choose a SAS cable with the correct length, connection type (i.e. 8087, 8644), left/right orientation and direction.

SAS cables are also available in "breakout" cables, such as 8087 to 4x SATA connectors.

SAS cables are unique in that power and data connectivity is through the same cable - and can be over 100cm in length. We stock these up to 15metres in length!
