NETGEAR ProSAFE M4300-24x Stackable L3 Managed Switch comes with 24-port 10GBASE-T, 4-port shared 10GBASE-x SFP+ and 480Gbps fabric in a half-width form factor. All 24 ports are 1G backward compatible for progressive transition to 10G speeds. M4300-24x is line-rate with 480Gbps fabric for spine and leaf stacking architectures. M4300 Switch Series delivers L2/L3/L4 and IPv4/IPv6 rich services for mid-enterprise edge and SMB core with unrivalled ease of use: 10 Gigabit models can seamlessly stack with 1 Gigabit models within the series. Non-stop forwarding (NSF) virtual chassis architectures provide advanced High Availability (HA) with hitless failover, that is, distributed link aggregation allows for load balancing and virtually zero downtime. M4300 is ideal for server aggregation with Auto-iSCSI prioritization: two half-width M4300 switches can be installed in a single rack space for redundant Top of Rack installations. Layer 3 feature set includes static and policy-based routing, RIP, VRRP, OSPF, and PIM dynamic routing " as standard. The NETGEAR M4300 Switch Series is also ready for the future, with Software-defined Network (SDN) and OpenFlow 1.3 enabled for your network.

| Switch layer A network switch is a computer networking device that links networking segments. A switch has different layers, such as layer 2 (a network bridge, operating at the data link layer, interconnecting a small number of devices) and layer 4 (can act as a firewall, amongst other things). | L3 |

| Auto MDI/MDI-X A Medium Dependent Interface (MDI) describes the interface (both physical and electrical) in a computer network from a physical layer implementation to the physical medium used to carry the transmission. Ethernet over twisted pair also defines a medium dependent interface crossover (MDIX) interface. Auto-MDIX ports on newer network interfaces detect if the connection would require a crossover, and automatically chooses the MDI or MDIX configuration to properly match the other end of the link. |
