Cisco DS-SFP-FC8G-SW=, Fiber optic, 8000 Mbit/s, SFP+, LC, 50/125,62.5/125
The Cisco Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP), Enhanced Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP+), and X2 devices for use on the Cisco MDS 9000 Family of products are hot-swappable transceivers that plug into ports on the Cisco MDS 9000 Family director switching modules and fabric switches. These transceivers give users the flexibility to choose different cabling types and distances on a port-by-port basis.
Cisco 8-Gbps Fibre Channel SFP+
The Cisco 8-Gbps Fibre Channel SFP+ is designed to provide Fibre Channel connectivity for the 2/4/8-Gbps ports on the Cisco MDS 9000 Family platform. Two types of Cisco 8-Gbps Fibre Channel SFP+ are available: the Cisco Fibre Channel Shortwave SFP+ (part number DS-SFP-FC8G-SW) and the Cisco Fibre Channel Longwave SFP+ (part number DS-SFP-FC8G-LW). Each product offers 2/4/8-Gbps autosensing Fibre Channel connectivity.

| Performance | |
| SFP transceiver type | Fiber optic |
| Maximum data transfer rate The maximum speed with which data can be transmitted from one device to another. | 8000 Mbit/s |
| Interface type | SFP+ |
| Multi-mode fiber (MMF) supported |
|
| Fiber optic connector This terminates the end of an optical fiber, and enables quicker connection and disconnection than splicing. The connectors mechanically couple and align the cores of fibers so light can pass. Better connectors lose very little light due to reflection or misalignment of the fibers. In all there have been about 100 types of optic fiber connectors produced. | LC |
| Fiber cable diameters supported (core/cladding) | 50/125,62.5/125 µm |
| SFP transceiver standard | SW |
| Wavelength The distance over which a wave repeats itself. The wavelength determines the characteristics of the wave e.g. red light has a different wavelength to blue light. | 850 nm |
| Tx power (min) | -8.2 dBmW |
| Tx power (max) | -1.3 dBmW |
| Ethernet LAN An Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network) interface is present, for a wired conection via a cable. |
|
| Fiber ports quantity The number of sockets (ports) for fibers (cables). | 1 |
