RAID support The device uses RAID, which is a storage technology that combines multiple disk drive components into a logical unit for the purposes of data redundancy and performance improvement. Data is distributed across the drives in one of several ways, referred to as RAID levels, depending on the specific level of redundancy and performance required.

Hot-swap drive bays The places where drives (hot-swap drives) can be inserted to or removed from the computer.
Supported file systems
Installed storage drive type Type of storage drives built into the device e.g. HDD (hard disk drive), SSD (solid-state drive).
Processor family A family of processors is a group of processors produced by one company over a short period of time e.g. Intel Pentium processors.
Processor frequency The speed that the microprocessor executes each instruction or each vibration of the clock. The CPU requires a fixed number of clock ticks, or cycles, to execute each instruction. The faster the clocks rate, the faster the CPU, or the faster it can execute instructions. Clock Speeds are usually determined in MHz, 1 MHz representing 1 million cycles per second, or in GHz, 1 GHz representing 1 thousand million cycles per second. The higher the CPU speed, the better a computer will perform.
Processor cores The number of central processing units ('cores') in a processor. Some processors have 1 core, others have 2 (e.g. Intel Core Duo) or more (e.g. the Intel Xeon E7-2850 has 10 cores).
Ethernet LAN An Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network) interface is present, for a wired conection via a cable.
Wi-Fi Popular technology that allows an electronic device to exchange data or connect to the internet wirelessly using radio waves.
Supported network protocols Network protocols tested as compatible with this product e.g. FTP,HTML, POP.
SMB, AFP, NFS, FTP, WebDAV, CalDAV, iSCSI, Telnet, SSH, SNMP, VPN (PPTP, OpenVPN, L2TP)
Ports & interfaces
USB 3.2 Gen 1 (3.1 Gen 1) Type-A ports quantity
eSATA ports quantity The number of ports (interfaces) for eSATA. eSATA is a a computer bus interface that connects host bus adapters to mass storage devices such as hard disk drives and optical drives.
Number of fans The quantity of fans (apparatus with rotating blades that creates a current of air for cooling or ventilation).
Fan diameter The size of the fan, measured by the distance from one side of the fan to the other, via a straight line going through the middle of the fan.
Noise level The amplitude level of the undesired background noise, usually measured in decibels (db).
Access Control List (ACL)
Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 10+, Safari 10+
Operating system installed Type of operating system on a device e.g. IOS on Apple devices, Android for mobile devices.
Windows 10,Windows 7
Power supply unit (PSU) capacity
Number of power supply units
Power consumption (typical) Amount of power consumed by this model, often expressed in watts (W). Typical values that manufacturers give are power consumption when off, standby/suspended mode, typical use, maximum usage.
Power consumption (HDD standby)
AC input frequency
50 - 60 Hz

RoHS compliance The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive aims to restrict certain dangerous substances commonly used in electrical and electronic equipment. Any RoHS compliant product is tested for the presence of Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Hexavalent chromium (Hex-Cr), Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). PBB and PBDE are flame retardants used in several plastics. For Cadmium and Hexavalent chromium, there must be less than 0.01% of the substance by weight at raw homogeneous materials level. For Lead, PBB, and PBDE, there must be no more than 0.1% of the material, when calculated by weight at raw homogeneous materials. Any RoHS compliant component must have 100 ppm or less of mercury and the mercury must not have been intentionally added to the component. In the EU, some military and medical equipment are exempt from RoHS compliance.
Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified The product has been certified by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), which is a non-profit collaborative trade organization established by Sony in June 2003 that is responsible for defining interoperability guidelines to enable sharing of digital media between multimedia devices
